1970 Niepoort vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Dumpy bottle. The wines for this port were mostly sourced from the Pisca vineyard, which is now mostly dedicated to the Bioma port from Niepoort.

Red in colour, 30% opaque. Ripe and sweet on the nose, sweet and balanced on entry. The palate shows fabulous fruit which is mature and balanced. The aftertaste and finish is driven by the sweet fruit and has an amazing length. Fabulous port. 96/100. Tasted at the BFT on 24 April 2013.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
