2009 Niepoort Bioma vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep magenta, opaque. Warm bramble fruit on the nose, restrained but ripe and attractive. Restrained fruit at first, but ripe fruit and tannins grow in perfect balance on the mid-palate. Air releases more tannin and more fruit. Big palate. Some heat on the aftertaste, then dry chalky tannins support a long and attractive fruit dominated finish. Excellent flavour profile and terrific balance between all the components. 91/100. Drunk at the BFT on 24 April 2013.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
