The Dirty Dozen on St George's Day - Tue 23 April 2013

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

On Tuesday 23rd April 2013, a few good men and true gathered together at the Bung Hole to celebrate the patron saint of Oporto and to share some fine ports with some visiting dignitaries. Pride of place in the port line up was given to a collection of mixed bottles acquired as a single lot at auction and affectionately referred to as "The Dirty Dozen".

We were also very privileged to share some bottles which were given to the port forum by a very generous benefactor, to whom we drank a toast of thanks to his kindness.

However, several of the bottles turned out to be the same vintage from the same shipper, giving a rather odd look to the list of tasting notes below:
1960 Dow
1960 Dow
1960 Dow
1963 Fonseca
1960 Dow
1960 Dow
1960 Dow
1963 Fonseca
1960 Fonseca
1992 Fonseca
NV Eira Velha Ruby Port by Newmans
2011 Sandeman
2011 Graham Stone Terraces
NV Quinta do Junco VVV
1907 Unknown
And a very fine bottle of Chateau Clinet 1998 with the food.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
