NV Quinta do Junco VVV

Bottled in 1947 after approximately 30 years in barrel. Deep brown colour with a light brown rim; opaque because of the cloudy character of the wine. Mild rancio nose; a neutral entry that is slow to develop on the palate but patience eventually allows multiple layers of flavour to show which are supported by a pleasant acidity. Burnt sugar and rhubarb on the very, very long finish. An odd and asymmetric wine that was a real pleasure to try. 90/100. Drunk 23 April 2013.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
