1980 Dow

The first of a small stash of seven, recently acquired.
Decanted on 12th May at 3 pm. Cork was good, a small corner broke off but it is sound.. Noticeable aroma of bananas straight away, and slight taste of chocolate. Rather light in colour..

It's about 50%, magenta with some bricking.
It has violets and mint, the banana aroma has dissipated.
This is soft. Very delicate, minty with a peppery finish. My nose is blocked however so maybe this will be better tomorrow?

This is a little bit of a disappointment. It's opened up a little more but it's clearly past its best.
Nose now has cherries and peppermint.
In the mouth, it has an extremely slight entry, no fruit at the front. It's hot - white pepper on the roof of the mouth, bracing gummy tannins and a short finish. I am tasting no fruit here at all.

This seems to be a very atypical D80 experience. I am rather sad..
