1966 Offley

Post by jdaw1 »

Eleven regulars gathered in a crowded Bung Hole to give Mr Doty a break from Wimbledon, in the form of a 1966 horizontal. It’s a hard life.

O66. Brick red, 30% opaque. Lovely raisiny taste, with lots of sweetness and a hint of vanilla. Good weight. Several people thought it slightly light or hollow in the mid palate, but even so, very fine port of good size, not overly expensive, and showing well. I liked.

A very big mouthfeel to this one, smooth and rich. Very much liked it but found it a tiny, tiny bit green too.

Offley
While aromas on this Port were reserved, flavors consisted of milk choc, orange peel, vanilla, and marmalade

Pale red / brown. Light and slightly sour rhubarb on the nose. Light and thin in texture. Simple at first on the palate, but develops good complexity later. Simple, brown sugar length. 84/100.
