1983 Taylor

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Imperial College stock. Very pale when first decanted, but put on colour and depth in the decanter. Attractive nose of smoke and strawberry syrup. Masses of sweet, black licorice on the palate, with a lively spiciness throughout the flavours - great palate. Typical Taylor heat on the late palate and aftertaste, gentle tannins giving way to a long, fine finish full of bitter-sweet birch-sap. Tasty and enjoyable port. 87/100. Drunk 24 August 2013 with a 4 hour decant.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
