2007 Quevedo

Post by djewesbury » 00:49 Thu 19 Sep 2013

In the nose: Violets are hiding in the background, but there's a big green element in the front again. Bitter herbs... Obscure herbs, that only monks know the names of.. A hint of absinthe. I think I could smell the steeliness of sorrel also. Very big and inviting.
The mouth is also green. Hits the top of the palate, with the tannins primarily on the tongue. Heat, but not masking the rest of the flavours. Less aggressive tannins than the 2011, and a slower, more gradual finish. This is very elegant, very like a good Douro wine with marvellous toasted dryness.
