1994 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

900 cases declared. Narrow rim, slight bricking and a slight cloudiness. Attractive nose of sweet crushed cherries in syrup. Sweet and smooth entry, with lots of ripe fruit giving a fabulous palate. The tannins support the fruit but never really dominate, the whole giving lots of layers of flavour and complexity. Tingling and lively finish, a huge length of mouthfilling intensity. Lots of black chocolate, birchwood and elegant aromatics. An amazing port which is a privilege to drink. 97/100. Drunk 16-Sep-13.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
