2000 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Less than 2,000 cases declared. Medium rim on a rich, dark red wine. Slightly reductive nose and a longer decant would have helped the wine. Soft and silky on entry, then a wave of powerful tannins dominate the palate and refuse to let go. Despite the power of the tannins the fruit is balanced and delightful, making for a terrific complexity that somehow combines elegance with power. Sweet fruity tannins govern the aftertaste and lead to a huge, dry finish that lasts forwver.Absolutely fabulous port. 95/100. Drunk 16-Sep-13
