Tue 08 Oct 2013, The Bung Hole, with Andy Velebil

With Andy Velebil visiting from California, it would have been rude not to. So we did, in The Bung Hole, on Tuesday 8th October 2013.

A splendid evening, with lots of good port.

And it will be remarked, so I should post first:

There was a conflict of dates between the Title ‟(F77)” and the Circlearray ‟[ (Fonseca) (1970) (CPR) ]”. Oops: both should have been !77.
Next, bed.

A wonderful evening of fun and laughs. And some serious port tasting as well. When I'm on a proper computer I'll get my tns up.

A very enjoyable evening, and an excellent way to start the tasting season for me after a personal tasting drought over the summer! Good to see ADV again and to meet a couple of new faces; a fine array of ports, with the Fonseca 77 achieving a landslide victory for WOTN. Thanks to all for organisation and their contributions, including the two very old generously shared bottles which were interesting though unfortunately did not show well, and to RAYC for the additional young bottle of Quinta das Lamelas 2007 enjoyed with the steak (and which should be added to the bottles listed for this evening).

This was done, for obvious reasons, before AHB voted. He voted much later, but his votes seem to have gone missing though I do remember than they didn’t change the medal table. Perhaps he could remind us.

I'm a little busy at the moment, but will remind you of my votes when I can get to my tasting notes. I do remember giving F77 3 points.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

On the evening I didn’t photograph the post-AHB votes, but have since found the paper. So:
