Halloween Emergency: Remember the Dead

Post by jdaw1 »

Will anybody else be thirsty on Thursday 31st October? That’s a coincidence, because I will. Perhaps something should be done about this?

Theme could be a complete vertical of, well, of anything. Or the more traditional bring a blinded bottle. Perhaps with the requirement that the tin foil be decorated in a manner appropriate to All Hallows’ Eve. Alas I have no Irish-bottled Port, but those who have might give that preference.

Location: the obvious. Start: 18:30. Dress code: Remember the Dead.

The Plan

People:
  1. JDAW;
  2. THRA;
  3. EDN;
  4. WS;
  5. RLC;
  6. DFM.
Theme: blinded and decorated.

Location: The Function Room in The Bung Hole (57 High Holborn, London WC1V 6DT, tel +44 20 7831 8365, streetmap.co.uk, maps.google.co.uk, bing.com).

Current draft of the placemats (and parameters by which made).

Unfortunately I will be defending our home against the egg-throwing hoards of ghosts who roam the streets that night.

Dirk Niepoort is in town and would like to join in as well as me. Will bring something suitable.

I am going to break my duck for this year and I shall attend...is it bring a bottle or a theme?

I'm slightly surprised to see that I'm attending. Honestly, I won't be in London on Thursday.

I didn’t believe a word of it. Should Team Wiseman endeavour to assist you with permission? (Be bold say yes.)

There is a possible extra participant..

DFM has been working his backside off in preparation for the Bonfire Night season, and if there's no major unexpected drama that screws things up, I'm going to (try to..) coax him onto a train tomorrow evening..

No, I have other plans for Thursday night that do not include being in London.

At approximately 1.30 I decanted a bottle that ranks as one of the most fragrant at T+0 that i have ever opened.

Will now spend the rest of the afternoon worrying that i have popped too early and that it will fall apart.

Port is back in bottle, stoppered, and in fridge.

Mine decanted 2pm.

I can print, but prefer that a different punctual attendee does so.

I am at the neighbouring Island, just decanted something nice.

Have fun, all best wishes to Dirk and lot of good bottles.

The horror, the horror...

My current bottle of 2003 Broadbent is nearly empty and will not suffice for the evening. Some other bottle will meet its destiny tonight.

Enjoy your evening!

Hi,

two bts of port decanted in the presence of DN at the Bunghole ~ 15:00. One will definitely give RAYC's bt a run for its money. The other is not bad either. Both are in Australian Shiraz bottles in order to make the Halloween theme; one is called "The black Sock" :lol:

Left Dirk happy with the two sediment glasses of port in the Bunghole. :wink:
3bts of port (1bt for Emergency of Emergency plan and two decanted bts) are in the cool cellar of the Bunghole.

cu later

I'm hoping to hear that there are pictures of the TPF team including Dirk all dressed as Baron Samedi from last night? :)
