1997 Vesuvio

Post by Axel P »

The 97 Vesuvio is Dominic Symington's favourite and I do understand why (though mine is still the 94). It is an amazing wine, that just starts to open up again.

The nose is quite similar to the 94 with a slight disadvantage of intensity, which might be equal as it continues to develop. In the beginning the palate is dominated by the alcohol. This wine is not integrated very nicely, which it doesn't have to be at this stage; you can still point out the individual components like alcohol, fruit and tannins besides each other. Average aftertaste.

A classic wine with quite some potential.

Axel, thanks for the Vesuvio updates! It seems that I will have to buy a case of 6 of the VP 97.

Cheers
Michael
