1922 Martinez

Good cork, well branded to confirm identity. Reddish tawny in colour, 25% opaque. A well developed nose full of roses and Turkish Delight that lifts out of the glass and invites further sniffing. Lovely balanced entry, with a silky texture and candied fruit. More fruit comes through on the mid-palate with raspberry jelly, a golden sultana sweetness and a lively nutmeg spiciness. There is a great burst of flavour on the aftertaste, before a quick fade to a modest level before the long burnt raising finish settles in and stays for a while. Very pleasant and enjoyable. 92/100. Drunk 01-Nov-13. Decanted 8 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
