So here goes my first tasting note and my first bottle of Dow 77, having read of many corked bottles I opened nervously, but all looked good, a deep red colour maybe 50% and it smelled lovely.
I started drinking straight away (in case it went down hill) and returned regularly for a top up, it was thick with smooth texture with lots of red fruit (cherries?) and a good long finish. All in all very good port and no hint of TCA even the next evening when I finished it.
Thus I guess I just got lucky

That's a fine first tasting note!
Glad your bottle was a good one. I have been lucky (for the most part) with D77 as well, though that's at least in part because I can't smell or taste TCA. Apparently 2 of the times I've had D77 it was corked, but I thought it was delicious!

An excellent first tasting note. Thank you for posting it - it's always good to hear people who get lucky with a port that has a great reputation, if it's not corked.
