2010 Dow Senhora da Ribeira

Post by djewesbury »

Decanted for 30 minutes. Drunk at Vinum, on the 1st of March 2014. Intense floral nose - roses (not as in rosewater or rose essence, but roses) with violet and a green minty note, and spice. Mouth brings blocky red and black fruits, pepper in the middle and juicy tea tannins at the finish.
After another hour this is greener and more bitter.
After a further half an hour, there's much less fruit and much more greenness, with a slightly shorter finish perhaps.
Finally, this became caramellish, or chocolatey, not in a very big way but more like kirsch cherries.
Wonderful, and good value at €66 for the bottle in a fairly pricey restaurant.

As we shared this bottle, I would like to put in my 5 cents (although I didn't take down a lengthy TN in my book): quite dark, smells quite sour at first (in my opinion, is that raspberry?), after an hour I smelled Eucalyptus and a little bit of dark chocolade, I prefer the Bomfim, it's more feminine and pleasing
