2004 Taylor Vargellas

Post by djewesbury » 23:24 Thu 06 Mar 2014

Decanted 2 hours. The nose was hugely green, very herby with eucalyptus also. AW77 said he found raspberry here, in the background. I thought there was a pleasant redcurrant sharpness. In the mouth, quiet at first, then immense heat, then bitterness and greenness, with dryness at the end. Tannins and heat in the finish, which fade suddenly. Chalky-toothed tannins linger long after.
Drunk at the Barão Fladgate in Porto on the 28th Feb 2014.

I didn't really take down a tasting note, so I concur with everything Daniel wrote. :)
