Medium purple with a slight bricking color around the edges.
This was a bad wine for me. Heavy Volatile Acidity smell. The gasoline smell just killed it for me. There was a hint of underlying tobacco smell.
Tasted bitter cocoa, tobacco, but the VA just permeated on my palate and made this a very unenjoyable wine.

1991 Quinta do Vesuvio
TN: V91
Vesuvio 1991, 30 hours decanted. Quite opaque, no blue, no purple, no brown: just red. Others had better comments on the smell: “VA smell† (JG); “nasal snuff† (ED); “heavier smell than other Vesuvios† (FF). Very flawed; not liked.
