1970 Graham

Scottish-bottled by Matthew Gloag of Perth. Penultimate bottle of the batch. Drunk with flash_uk and soon-to-be-member RA, in order to avert an emergency in Belfast (where these things must be taken seriously).

Very pleasingly dark as with previous bottles from this batch. Much more obvious tobacco notes than I'd noticed before. A little spiritous at first, then nicely big and cherryish mid-palate (perhaps cherry sweets) with white pepper and the merest suggestion of VA, a sharpness that is not unpleasant. Finish a little precipitous, perhaps. A lovely port.

Decanted 14 hours. 50% opacity, red with a brown rim. Sharpsh on the nose, tobacco but fruit for sure behind it. Very good structure, nicely balanced...fruit and acidity interchanging. Lovely sweetness to this and perfect substance to the structure. Caramel chocolate hints, gentle spice, but overall a delight in the mouth. Could drink this continuously for a long time :)
