1970 Taylor

Paired with the Sandeman 1970. Deep red, still showing some youth in the colour. Nose of cherry juice and redcurrants. Smooth and fruity with raspberries and maraschino cherry. Lots of midpalate complexity and some burning spiciness. The aftertaste takes a while to arrive, but lasts a good time as a gentle strawberry blancmange flavour. Great drinking, but will probably be better in 5 years time or with more time in the decanter. 91/100.

I loved this port, and although it will certainly be better after lots of extra years in the cellar, I can't help to love a powerful port like this. This was showing younger than the magnum we had in 2005, and will age for ages. I saved a bit in my glass that I sipped through the evening, it kept amazing me. For me: 95 points.
