2012 Croft Roeda

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

More purple and with a wider transparent rim that the 2012 Fonseca Guimaraens. A stunning nose of fresh, ripe Victoria plums that have been just picked from the tree. Really lush and attractive. Floral fruit swamps the palate on entry, opulent and impressive - and then the dry tannins show themselves and don't go away; not overpowering but very firm. Lovely fruit driven, tannin chewy aftertaste and finish with an amazing length. An extremely impressive port and my favourite of the TFP ports from 2012 at this tasting. 94-96. Tasted 14 May 2014.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
