2009 Croft

A very odd nose, smelling of cold roast pork! Fragrant purple fruit and powerful tannins give a big palate. The tannins dominate with the acidity just showing on the tip of the tongue. The palate develops and the tannins relent to release a lovely fragrant fruit. The fruit is opulent and ripe, perhaps slightly jammy and the jamminess shows in the aftertaste before a distant cocoa finish with green edged tannins. 89/100. Drunk 14-May-14.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
