1997 Fonseca

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Less evolved appearance than the Taylor shown alongside, bricking on the rim but opaque at the centre. Wonderful open nose of attractive violets and junipers. Balanced entry with a grassy edge and so much fruit; but there is a structural core of clean, pure acidity. The two combine to give a great palate presence, really big. Glorious floral aftertaste with a big finish of raisins and sultanas. This will grow old with grace and distinction. 94/100. Drunk 14-May-14
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
