1997 Sandeman

Deep red, 95% opaque. Grassy nose, plenty of fruit but also a lot of herbaceous elements and a purple perfume. Soft and silky texture. The fruit has softened but the tannins are still big and ripe. There is a nice balance to this port with less obvious acidity than in the older ports. The ripe tannins and fruit dominate the aftertaste and the lovely finish. This is really nice port. 91/100. Drunk 23-Apr-14
