1996 Fonseca Guimaraens

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Pale red, surprisingly mature; 60% opaque. Unfortunately lots of bottle stink on the nose, lots of reductive tones. Soft and a little flabby on the palate; does come with some mid-palate acidity and soft tannins. Eventually delivers a large palate presence with some good, sweet fruit. Sweet aniseed finish but the alcohol makes the cheeks tingle. 86/100. Drunk 24-Apr-14 at BFT5.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
