Dark black red with some paling at the rim. Intense cassis and graphite bouquet. A Bordeaux port Palate very primary of black forest fruits and anise with some VA lift - in this case completely in check and working for the good. Long savoury palate with firm hefty fine grained tannin balancing how large and ripe this port is. Excellent port. I think I have a fondness for the 83 vintage.
