NV Taylor Tawny 40YO

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Dark orange/red, 30% opaque. Soft and honeyed nose, much more restrained than the 1863 colheita being shown alongside. Fresh and balanced entry, elegant and cmbining perfectly figgy fruit and acidity. There is a lovely focus of flavours with the acidity cutting through the honey but the dried apricot and fruit flavours are lovely. There is a long aftertaste of apricots and a touhc of grapefruit bitterness. Great length of finish, at least 4 minutes long. (NB: 1 litre of 40 yo starts life as 4 litres of port.) 94/100. Drunk 03-Jun-14.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
