1996 Niepoort LBV
Bottled 2000. A year of high yields. Deep red with hints of maturity starting to appear; 90% opaque. Bottle stink also on this bottle, but not as pronounced as the 1990. The stink leads on the palate although the sweet fruit and soft tannins can be distinguished underneath. A slightly bitter tannic flavour dominates the finish. This is in an odd place in its evolution. 82/100. Drunk 24-Apr-14 at BFT5.

Re: 1996 Niepoort LBV
This was a dark, chocolate ruby, about 60%, with a dark chocolate nose. The entry is bitter and lively, rather biscuity and dry; very good, with a really rich, butter, dry finish. This was very good indeed.
