NV Quinta do Infantado Ruby Reserve

Post by WineLoverPT »

Stopper style cork
Bottle number 4913
9.79 euros

Ever the optimist, I thought perhaps this was might be a sub-10 euros undiscovered gem of the port world.
And I had a" 25% off all port" coupon for the supermarket.
And I quite liked the label...

Decanted at 1pm: Clear, pale brick red, but not, as this colour sometimes is, sickly looking - almost a red glow to it. Long, clear legs. Alcohol and fruit in the nose. Some fruit, some heat, quite gentle.
D + 5: Thicker now, tastes tawny - gentle, but hot at the finish and in the throat.
D + 8: it’s not exactly light, but not powerful either - pleasant for light conversation, but not a Port over which to sign treaties.
D + 24: Quite mellow now - gentle fruit, gentle tawn, gentle heat - rather a nice drink, but not stopping any traffic.
D + 36: Thick and goopy - some indeterminate fruit, some heat, but well mixed - not a bad, cheap, drop of splodge for a cold winter evening.

Well, shock horror, I'm pretty sure this isn't an undiscovered wonder.

Nice note - I especially liked the conclusion, which made me smile.
