1984 Warre LBV (unfiltered)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Decanted cleanly off a large amount of heavy sediment. Burnt ochre in colour, 20% opaque. Little on the nose, some blood orange. Some sweetness on entry, a little fruit. Later on the palate there is a better focus with the underlying acidity supporting rose hip and orange peel. Luscious aftertaste and a big, lingering finish full of bitter licorice. Decent port. 85/100. Drunk 22-Jun-14. Decanted ½ hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
