1996 Fonseca Guimaraens

Tasted during our annual port evening with friends.

I had this port before, but wasn't too enthousiastic then. I must admit that I was wrong. This is a very good port, and it reminds me a bit of the great 2001. Not giving much on the nose, very much closed. Showing classic Fonseca flavours and elegance on the palate. It slightly less fresh than the Warre Cavadinha 1995 and it's a tad sweeter, but it has a better structure. Lovely port, that will be even better in 10 years time. 90+ points.
