Tasted during our annual port evening with friends.
Had this before in January 2006 and didn't like it much then (I gave 84 points). This bottle shows much, much better. It seems like it's emerging from its closed phase already.
This port smells very fresh, with not a hint of alcohol. Lovely aromas of aniseed, mint and bay leaf. Medium bodied and packed with dense, lovely fruit flavours, again bay leaf, dark chocolate and dried chilipepper. Ripe, but strong tannins promise a bright future. I gather this Croft will age graciously, and it's already very enjoyably now too. 92 points.
