2000 Sandeman Vau

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From double magnum at Tom's pub.

Deep red in colour, opaque, but showing little of the magenta of a very young port. Powerful nose, very assertive, full of violets, black currants and cooked chicken livers! (Very odd, believe me!). Smooth and full of ripe blackcurrants on the palate. Soft tannins are ripe and attractive and the acidity is strong but superbly in balance. A big mouthful of youthful port that has no aggression and a great balance. Long, long finish that is just oozing with blackcurrants. Really very nice. 88/100. Pop 'n' pour. 25 July 2014.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
