1934 Rebello Valente

Post by SEAN C. »

The 1934 Robertson’s Rebello Valente had an excellent color for its age but smelled a bit earthy with an overwhelming nose of cloves, apples, and pine tree. One could only describe the nose as ‘offensive’, the taste unfortunately was not much better. Primarily apples and cloves mixed with cinnamon and spearmint on the palate and spicy on the finish. The flavors were most uncommon for Port and did not make for a particularly pleasant drinking experience. After three hours of decanting there was no change in the ‘off’ taste or smell of the 1934 Rebello. Overall very disappointing and definitely not a Port I would look to purchase again!
