Cork fell into the bottle when being removed. Initially very light in colour, but quickly darkened in the decanter.

Rusty red/brown colour 30% opaque. Very little on the nose, perhaps a bit of leather shoe polish. On the palate this has a pleasant texture and a nice gentle acidic structure. There is little fruit flavour, some lime juice acidity and lots of burnt sugar. A huge, long finish of bitter raspberries and grapefruit juice. Overall, this is an acceptable port, but not better than that. 80/100. Drunk 30-Aug-14. Decanted 2 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
