2011 Croft

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, scarlet tones rather than purple. Big and powerful on the nose, extremely herbaceous with a tingle of alcohol mixed in with the myriad of floral elements. Smooth entry, very silky. Big palate presence with huge levels of fruit backed with high levels of acidity that provide a good focus. There are lovely roasted cocoa tannins hiding in the fruit that show well on the black cherry finish that follows on from a touch of heat. Good, solid port that will bring great drinking pleasure for many decades. 93/100. Drunk 04-Sep-14. Decanted 2 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
