the slip label on the back is what troubles me about this case.

This will be done in bits through the night.

When I decanted this there was a very strident taste of liquorice, it looked very pale. The bottom of the cork disintegrated (as you may see from the upside down picture, also note the piece of paper to rest the cork on *bigloveDaniel* and the luggage label) Now six hours later it does not have this immediate punch, almost seeming to lack at the front of the palate.

I think I am getting to like the 77s, I know and respect the view that it has not lived up to its early promise but I like this medium style. More anon. Have another picture;

It has just been through a very spirity phase (at about 9 hours) but now becomes sweeter and smoother. A very pink colour, no brown to be seen. This is the kind of port which would do badly at a tasting but I really like to drink. Not much nose, bright redcurrants and that spirit again. The finish is getting longer.

Tonight, about 28 hours after decanting; a bit simple, seems browner than last night, more spirit, some fruit. Overall very pleasant. I think it may contradict the timbre of this note but I wonder if a few more years might help.

There is a small splash of this left, oddly it has recovered that liquorice flavour and tastes more like it did when I opened it.
