1975 Croft

Post by jdaw1 »

On Wednesday 29th October 2014 some obvious suspects (JDAW, DRT, MPM, THRA, IDJ, BMHR, RLC) gathered to test the Board Room in Davy’s at Plantation Place (Mincing Lane EC3R 7BD, +44 20 7621 9878, streetmap.co.uk, maps.google.co.uk, bing.com).

Recalling that we held a small vertical of Croft at The Bung Hole on Monday 16th January 2012, originally for the purpose of testing the then-new location (planning and arrangements, review of the evening as a whole), this Croft theme was repeated.

Decanted 5 hours. 30% opacity, very fine sediment, warm red-brown. Warm fruit nose, strawberry. Nice smooth entry, builds to a gently spirituous finish. Sweet - oranges. Fresh mouthfeel, but syrupy nonetheless. Good stuff, but not sure this will have a better time ahead of it.

Cr75. Well, what a lovely ’75 this is. Previously it has been observed that Noval and Croft are the good seventy-fives, and it happened again. Lovely mature red, 50% opaque. Palate soft, with a hint of heat, and the same burnt sense detected in the ’63. Good length, and lovely sweetness.

† Yes, we know that 1875 was widely declared. Unless you’re going to provide bottles for an 1875 horizontal, hush.
