1977 Croft

Post by jdaw1 »

On Wednesday 29th October 2014 some obvious suspects (JDAW, DRT, MPM, THRA, IDJ, BMHR, RLC) gathered to test the Board Room in Davy’s at Plantation Place (Mincing Lane EC3R 7BD, +44 20 7621 9878, streetmap.co.uk, maps.google.co.uk, bing.com).

Recalling that we held a small vertical of Croft at The Bung Hole on Monday 16th January 2012, originally for the purpose of testing the then-new location (planning and arrangements, review of the evening as a whole), this Croft theme was repeated.

Decanted 5 hours. 35% opacity, cloudiness. Red-brown-orange. Strange nose, slightly dusty musty, but then prunes behind that. Bit spirituous in the mouth and quite dry. Not on the best form this particular bottle.

Cr77. Cloudy red, 40% opaque. Not quite right, but nor was it quite wrong. A burnt sensation, though slightly different to that of the ’63 and ’75. Hot, mid weight, and slightly acrid. Hmm.
