1977 Gould Campbell

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, still opaque, dark and powerful looking. Little on the nose; swirling produces a dark and brooding blackberry and damson. Slightly watery texture. Tight palate with a good dose of tannins; a large volume of fruit but brutal and unbalanced with a dry and bitter core. Dry fruit stones and sweet plum finish which gets very peppery mid-finish. Long length. The bitterness is slightly off-putting. 93/100. Drunk 26-Sep-14. Decanted 36 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
