1977 Fonseca

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Drunk at Quinta do Tedo. Rich red appearance, paler on the rim; 60% opaque. Rather too warm in the room so the sweet fruit on the nose was marred by rather a lot of spirit. Sweet and lovely in the mouth with plenty of fruit and some delicious tannins. Round and sweet, luscious and full with some gorgeous concentrated mandarin essence. The aftertaste is full of delicious powerful oranges; slightly dry and sour in the finish but a great length. 94/100. Drunk 24-Sep-14. Decanted 11 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

F77. Red pink, 50% opaque. Spirit and red berry.

Unusually, I failed to note anything about the palate.
