1987 Niepoort

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Drunk at Quinta de Vale d'Agodinho with Oscar and Claudia Quevedo, Luis Sottomayor and Rob Coombes. Mature red/brown in colour, 60% opaque. Green coffee on the slightly odd nose, mixed in with burnt toast. Fruity entry with lots of strawberry but also a dirty element after the initial impression of fruit. The tannins are dry but gentle. The palate is quite simple and is followed by a pleasant spicy aftertaste that is quite big and enjoyable. 85/100. Drunk 23-Sep-14. Decant N/K.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
