1997 Sandeman Vau

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Drunk at Quinta de Vale d'Agodinho with Oscar and Claudia Quevedo, Luis Sottomayor and Rob Coombes. From an ex-cellars double magnum. Deep red and opaque. Soft and fruity on the nose smelling of slightly bruised apples and fresh cherry juice. Lots of fruit on entry and delivering with a nice balance, the lovely ripe tannins giving a solid structure to the floral fruit. The tannins are pronounced but never dominant. Lovely fruity aftertaste and a lingering finish. Delicious. 91/100. Drunk 23-Sep-14. 10 hours double decanted.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
