Mz58. Lovely red, 50% opaque. Nose slightly closed, with red cherries. Palate had red fruit, a little heat, god length. As typical for old Martinez, mid-weight. Others liked this less than did I. Indeed, I swapped my ’55 for Axel’s ’58, both of us liking the deal.

This was a deeper walnut red. Light cherries and candy in the nose, with very light eucalyptus behind. Some heat in the mouth, otherwise good, cherries and other unknown red fruits / berries.

60% opacity, brown-red. Nose a bit varnishy. Gentle heat from the start, bit thin then a spiritous finish.

Deep red but with some mature shades, 90% opaque. Muted nose with a little red fruit. Restrained impact, plentiful fruit - sweet bramble jelly - but with a good complexity. The lovely fruit is intertwined with a good sweetness and a soft caramel flavour. Far more youthful than the age would lead you to expect. Lovely floral aftertaste, long and delicious of sweet fruit with a hint of chocolate. 90/100.
