Bottled by Mayor Sworder. Magnificent within a couple of hours of being opened, but this note was taken the following evening.

Fabulous red colour, a lovely chestnut-red. Delicious nose of sweet, spiced fruit compote with a myriad of red fruits in the complex scents. Good thick texture, full of fruit and spice, like walking past a shop full of mince pies, Christmas cakes and Christmas puddings with one layer of flavour over another and then another. And amidst all of this is a little subtle tannin and a hint of alcohol. The flaming brandy butter bursts alight when you swallow, briefly flaring and drowning out all else, but then the fire burns down to leave an amazing complex of flavours, with fruit, butterscotch, toffee and aniseed all intertwined. Fantastic port, showing clearly what the 1966 vintage is all about at the moment. 94/100. Drunk 29-Nov-14. Decanted 24 hours.
