Mz75. 30% opaque (I forgot to note colour). Nose had varnish. Palate pleasant, light, some heat, a little varnish.

Part of a pattern of ’75s being less rubbish than they were a decade ago, but still too light and simple.

This had a green apple varnish in the nose, and apricots, and a very heady fruit salad – quite a nose. The mouth was disappointing though. Simple, short, hot.

Modest light red in colour; pale, light and evolved. 20% opaque. Gentle nose, slightly unpleasant with a harsh rose-hip syrup. Later very light on the nose. A nice dusty fruit on the palate, a touch light but with a nice flavour profile. Good balance and elegance with a great orange flavour. Lovely fragrance on the finish. A very pleasant port. 86/100.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
