Re: Mon 19th Jan 2015, Fonseca 1985, Boot & Flogger

Post by jdaw1 »

As folks might already know, an imperial of Fonseca 1985 is to be opened on Saturday 17th January 2015. If there were interest, a bottle of this could be set aside, perhaps to be tasted on Monday 19th January 2015.

Might this be of interest? Perhaps the theme could be ‘Fonseca 1985, variously’.

I'm in but disagree with the theme - how about just Fonseca, generally?

Because I have already revealed.

Please don’t be shy about arranging a ‘Bring a Blinded Bottle’ in early January.

What about "Blind Fonseca", which means you can bring your bottle along blind like all others...

A most excellent theme; I will currently have to be very tentative however.

Yes please-count me for this. Blind or sighted, I don't mind. Have a reasonable number of different vintages I could choose from.

Imperial to be decanted Saturday — no flexibility. So bottle from that to be drunk ASAP. Monday it is — sorry.

Can you re-arrange that meeting?

Hello,

I would like to come to this too. Will bring a Fonseca 70 :D or 77 :) if this is OK. Not a lot of Fonseca left at my house :? and the remaining bt of 80 was considered as inapropiate!

I can bring a '70 and/or '85. For the '85, might be interesting to compare the 750 to a mag.

Done. But there’s nothing wrong with an evening in which more than one bottle of F85 is drunk.

my chance to attend is currently closer to zero than to 50%; I suggest moving me to the "highly improbably, but might turn up at the last minute if by a miracle is able to" list. Would have 70/77/83/85 options if a miracle occurs.

I see both Alex and I have yet to show our hands for this tasting. Would a F55 be acceptable or should we try and restrict the range of the vintages (in which case I believe I have a F66 somewhere)?

As, on this occasion, we are restricting it to vintages of or after 1815, a Fonseca 1955 would be most acceptable. Thank you.

(And you should vote sighted, as you’re revealed.)
