On Monday 19th January 2015 we gathered in the Red Room of the Boot and Flogger to drink some Fonseca, including a bottle that had been drawn from an imperial on Saturday 17th (discussion).

FrL99 (Anthony Habert of Sogrape UK). Floral nose. Palate too young; great grip; dark plum. Good Port.

From Sogrape. Mature red, with a narrow rim and an opaque centre. Very subdued nose with gentle fruit. Balanced and attractive; lovely mature fruit with delightful gentle powdery tannins. Such a wonderful and elegant aftertaste with perfect poise, great length and superb dark chocolate tannins. Really enjoyable, drinking nicely now and with at least a decade ahead of it. 88/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
