1977 Gould Campbell

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Served pop 'n' pour to minimise the risk of TCA taint. Dark red, wholly immature and with an opaque centre; the colour is a muddy red rather than a brick red. Black cherries and bracken on the nose. Deep and brooding palate, full of black cherry and dark chocolate cocoa; the tannins are dry and like black chocolate. A big palate, fragrant and fruity. A big and powerful aftertaste and a finish that lasts several minutes. This is a huge and very youthful port. 94/100. Drunk 24-Feb-15. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
