1994 Warre LBV
Traditional LBV, bottled 1998. Deep red, opaque; still quite youthful. A lovely nose of soft blackcurrant and roasted hazelnuts, a delicious smell. Full bodied and fruity on the palate, with a vibrant acidity that keeps the fruit focused and concentrated. Still surprisingly primary fruit and with a generous dose of coffee-flavoured tannins. A great mouthful of flavour. The acidity shows again on the aftertaste and really makes the mouth water before giving way to a long, black chocolate and bitter-sweet blackcurrants. Very flavoursome and very fine port, medium weight but full-bodied and extremely tasty! 92/100. Drunk 06-Mar-15. Pop 'n' Pour.

A very fine tasting note that makes you want to have a glass too. One question though: isn't "medium weight but full-bodied" a contradiction?AHB wrote: medium weight but full-bodied

What I was trying to convey was that there was plenty of texture and physical density (the medium weight reference) but that there was also lots of extraction of fruit and burly flavours (full-bodied). It was a slightly odd combination, but one which worked very well.AW77 wrote:A very fine tasting note that makes you want to have a glass too.
